Official Rules

 

The Sponsor of this Sweepstakes is TOKYOPOP Inc.

 

1.     NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. The Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the 50 states of the United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 13 years of age as of the date of entry. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Employees, contractors and their families of the following are ineligible to enter or win: TOKYOPOP Inc. (“TOKYOPOP”), and its parent, subsidiary, and affiliated companies. Employees and their families of TOKYOPOP’s advertising and promotional agencies are also ineligible to enter or win.

 

2.     The Sweepstakes begins at 12:01 a.m. PST on February 25, 2008, and ends at 11:59 p.m. PST March 2, 2008.  Entries submitted after 11:59 p.m. on March 2, 2008, are ineligible to win.  The Sweepstakes has two (2) separate methods in which to enter (you can enter either way or both ways): 

 

(a)  “.hack preview” method: You can enter this component of the Sweepstakes by: (i) creating a profile on TOKYOPOP.com and joining the .hack clan at http://www.tokyopop.com/clans/dothack (which is free) and (ii) reading the .hack manga preview on http://www.tokyopop.com/product/2146/hackGU/1# and posting your comments about the .hack preview (or the .hack manga) on this preview page.  

 

and/or

 

(b)  “.hack trivia” method:  You can only enter this component of the Sweepstakes by: (i) creating a profile on TOKYOPOP.com and joining the .hack clan at http://www.tokyopop.com/clans/dothack (which is free), (ii) answering the daily .hack trivia questions located at http://www.tokyopop.com/dot_hack/contest/1278617.html, and (iii) emailing your answers to us at fancontent@tokyopop.com with .hack in the subject line.

 

Only one entry per method per email address or person will be eligible.  All entries must be completed and submitted online. No other methods of entry will be accepted.

 

3.     TOKYOPOP is not responsible for human error, computer hardware or software malfunction, Internet connection or transmission problems or failures, or Internet traffic congestion, which may affect an entry or attempted entry.  TOKYOPOP reserve the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or terminate the Sweepstakes.  Furthermore, TOKYOPOP reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant deemed to have (a) tampered or attempted to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or TOKYOPOP’s website; (b) violated these Official Rules; (c) violated the Terms of Service, conditions of use and/or general rules, or (d) cheated, destroyed, obstructed, or otherwise acted illegally or in bad faith in relation to this Sweepstakes.

If the Sweepstakes is terminated prior to 11:59 p.m. (PST), March 2, 2008, eligible online entries received prior to termination will remain qualified for the grand prize.  All entries must be completed and submitted personally by the entrant. Collection of personally identifiable information will be made pursuant to TOKYOPOP Inc.’s Online Privacy Policies posted at http://www.tokyopop.com/policy/privacy.php

 

4.     The Prizes are:

 

(a)  For “.hack preview” prize: One (1)prize pack consisting of assorted .hack manga/novels with a total retail value of approximately $50.  Two (2) winners will be chosen at random from eligible entries beginning on February 25th and continuing through February 29, 2008 from .hack clan members who entered via the “.hack preview” method (a total of 10 winners).

 

(b)  For “.hack trivia” prize:  One (1) prize pack consisting of assorted .hack items:  a PS2 video game, an Official Strategy Guide, manga and posters with a total retail value of approximately $198.  One (1) winner will be chosen at random from eligible .hack clan members who correctly answered all five trivia questions via the “.hack trivia” method.

 

The Prizes are non-transferable and have no cash equivalent, except as indicated above.  The Prizes cannot be exchanged or returned for cash. Taxes on the Prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners. TOKYOPOP reserves the right in its sole discretion to substitute a prize of comparable value or cash in the amount of $50 or $198 respectively, but substitution of the Prize by the winner is prohibited. If the winner cannot be notified by email or does not accept the Prize within three (3) days after the Prize is awarded, the Prize will be forfeited and the runner up will become the winner.

 

5.     By entering this Sweepstakes, you consent to TOKYOPOP’s use of your name for promotional purposes, including online announcements, without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.  If you are the winner, TOKYOPOP may require you to furnish proof of identity, address, and birth date as a condition to awarding the Prize to you. TOKYOPOP may also require you to sign (i) an agreement releasing TOKYOPOP from all liability in connection with personal injury or death, damage, theft, or loss in connection with the Sweepstakes and the acceptance, receipt, possession, or use of the Prize, and (ii) a publicity release, unless prohibited by law, permitting TOKYOPOP to advertise your name and state of residence.  If you are the winner and you’re under the age of 18, your parent or guardian must also sign such agreements and releases. Failure to present such proof or sign such additional releases within three (3) days after notification by email will result in disqualification and forfeiture of the prize, which may be awarded to the runner up.

 

6.     TOKYOPOP will announce the winners at http://www.tokyopop.com by March 10, 2008, and will ship the prizes on or before March 31, 2008, to the winner’s mailing address in the United States.

 

7.        By participating in the Sweepstakes, entrants and their parents or legal guardians agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of TOKYOPOP, which are final in all matters relating to this Sweepstakes.
